Doctor who?

Google it - it seems like the middle men are the problem, not Day 1 Health. If you want Day 1 Health, contact them directly.

Medical insurance also has cash limits placed on the cover...

Like R150k for hospitalisation for an accident...

Or varying levels of cash back for hospitalisation up to a set number of days.. anything after that and you're on your own.

Medical insurance or hospital insurance will cover you after the fact. Medical aid will pay it up front.

Not really crap, but not a replacement for a proper medical aid... more a supplement.

Basically. Well actually it depends on how much it covers you for. All the medical insurance (not med aid) products I have come accross would fall short in the event of serious hospitalization (think tragic/unforeseen event) that could take place.

It's not really if you just have just the day to day benefits, especially if you have kids etc and use doctors alot, it's unlimited. My kids godfather added my kids to his medical insurance and they have seen doctors and dentists and I have never paid a blue cent. The hospital plan is not top notch and would be better backed by a proper medical aid hospital plan, but I guess for people who cannot afford medical aid, this is an option. Also, no tax benefits on medical insurance.

Naaa boet i have medical insurance, 500 a month. It has it's limits no doubt but far better than the discovery hospital plan i was paying 1k for. I get dentistry, doctors etc for nothing. As mentioned it is the amount covered but discovery for 1k would not pay for dentists, doctors basically i had to be over night in hospital to make any use of the 1k i was paying and some tests were not covered. Basically i was paying 1k a month in case i needed a heart transplant or something major that would cost half a bar.

Much better benefits, limited yes but my discovery hospital plan was so limited in any case. Got nothing from them. For 500 less i get doctors, dentist etc.

Ockie that crap they have on tv isn't like this and these plans are good for young people i think, better than discoveries 1k hospital plan with practically 0 benefits.

Don't touch it with a Fishing Pole. You will regret.

It's like the dirty timeshare outfit of medical aid/insurance products.

The company I work for was helping them advertise. Its not a bad product and it has its place but you need to read through everything carefully. There are no wonder products when it comes to medical aid and medical insurance - if you want decent cover you will pay a premium for it. For low income earners this is a decent product as it gives them an option rather than having nothing, but as stated before, it is not a medical aid and it won't cover nearly as much as a Discovery product would for instance.

Always read everything carefully when medical cover it involved.
