Very impressive. Next stop, privatize electricity supply in South Africa and kick Eskom to the curb
That would be the bloody dream! Can you imagine how successful SA would be if you privatised those ailing SOE's + municipalities?

It's looking like Generation is most likely to go the privatisation route but distribution and transmission will always remain state enterprises

100% this... Distribution and Transmission has to kind of remain a state enterprise really at a national level. The country needs to be able to move power around across the whole country and if there are a myriad of private generation entities those interconnects will get tricky if we don't have a central distribution/transmission entity.

This country is moving relatively fast towards a massively distributed generation model that will be heavily private in my opinion. Big corporates will push the model hard to reduce their reliance on the central generation infrastructure for mission critical workloads really.

  • Delft;
  • Kraaifontein;
Good luck! Those panels will disappear within a month after installation.

Kraaifontein has two Shoprite's and one Usave.

The one Shoprite is less than 200m from the police station, but the number of robberies and break-ins at that mall is staggering.

Privatisation works for Telecomms. They also move things across the country.

Industry and mining/manufacturing uses around 56% of all electricity. Residential uses around 14. Services uses around 16%. The rest is probably exported to other African countries.

Mines and smelters signed long-term contracts with Eskom with ridiculously low prices per kW/h.

This.

But eksom doenst have the means so it's impossible unless a private company builds a new grid from scratch

Won't happen.

They only have lunch for an hour. So the police can't go too far. So they rob local.
