A new chapter in the ANC's forceful renaming of Potch

This little saga is just getting better and better, and showing the ANC's true colours, gone are the days of working for a better new south africa with all people as equal.

As you all know, there is this massive debate around the renaming of Potch (well its massive in potch, we are a small little town).

In October, they held a massive protest march against the mayor and he's croonies for forcing the name change (yet again...massive in a potch perspective), there were roughly about 5000 people saying no.

They marched to the mayors office, and handed over a memorandum or whatever you call it. The mayor *spit* graciously took it and assured the masses that he will take it into consideration (I think he was eyeing the people with sjamboks more then the document).

Then in November, 4000 people marched in Ikageng (old township) against the name change....this is ANC supporters, wanting the money to be used for better things then a name change, and some of them like the name potch.

Now I know my maths are a bit screwy, but 5000 + 4000 people are a lot more then the 20 - 30 people that said they wanted the name change in the beginning.

But here comes the little gem, that shows the ANC is basically only doing these name changes out of spite, not to right the wrongs of the past, and it has very little feeling for anyone's heritage and history.

Our mayor *spit* this week handed their proposal over to the name change commitee, and guess what, they only handed in their proposal, not the oppositions memorandum/document.

When confronted with this, the mayor's office *spit* said that its not their job to hand over other documentation or other proposals!

Good on you ANC, thats showing those colours in true peacock style.

And I know the ANC croonies on this forum will now scream : " source?? Source??"

This shows you again, the ANC is not here to bridge the big divide, find peaceful solutions, have everyone work in peace and harmony, its here to eradicate everything that is not black

Even black people think these name changes are too much, I just talked to a man in Mankweng yesterday and he said "these name changes are rediculious" straight out before I had even started talking about it properly.

You see, there is this town called Nylstroom (south of Pieterburg) but some people want us to call it Molemole, problem is there is a district municipality named Molemole too, north of Pieterburg. Its encompasses places like Dendron, Soekmekaar, Ramoghopa and such. So which is the real Molemole? You know what confusion it can cause with 2 places having the same name in the same province?

I'd love to hear Angelos explanation on this stupid and confusing renaming. I even offer to take you to this black man that said renaming is ridiculious.

I don't understand how the ANC feels they doing us a favour with name changes. Why don't they have a local vote to see what people want rather than the current do what they like scenario? I mean, do it digitally to save cost and hey, come nxt elections the digital voting can go in swing too

I know a story from when my brother was doing his summer job requirements for his engineering degree. A black guy working with them was going home for the Christmas holidays, and they asked him where he stayed. He said he was going back to Potgietersrus.

They're doing this because they have to do something. So if they can't actually do anything concrete like get crime under control they have to make a few cosmetic changes like this.
