I'm currently studying at the University of Stellenbosch. The internet here is something i can only imagine that gets offered overseas.

When there isnt much activity on the network, you can download off the internet at 600 kb/sec to a 1 mb/sec for as little as R 0.05 /mb

Makes browsing www.youtube.com and video.google.com really awesome. Sux that they block P2P ports :(

Was just wondering how it is compared to Telkom's DSL, how fast are sites like www.youtube.com and video.google.com in loading videos?

Does anyone know what connection Universities have? Do they have to buy bandwidth through telkom aswell?

I use youtube on a 384 connection. Some videos slow but most of the time I don't have any problems.

I understand that IS awaits more international bandwidth currently. We are not sure what the ETA is, but at least it's coming... :)

I work for an ISP. You should see the connectivity on a Sunday evening.... :)
