A Tribute to my good gaming buddy

One of my best friends, Roelof Vermaak, past away in his sleep last night of a heart attack.

Best friend.........................strange to say this because i never met him in person, but played online games with him for the past 4 years, Guild Wars RF and Warhammer.

Coming together to do mission or just plainly talking nonsense on team speak for the past years he did become one of my best buddies although i never met him in person. We've met on Guild Wars an we have been part of 8 guys from SA, playing online games together for 4 years now.

Team Speak will be quiet tonight mate, you will be surely missed.

Verco thx for the tribute, as you know me and he was quite close friends. Not only did we played together and chatted on ts for the past 4 years each day we also had a few braai’s and gatherings.

The news was a tremendous shock to me this morning, we were still chatting on ts just a few hours before his death….

All I want to say atm is:
RIP my big friend, you’ll be greatly missed!!!

We are a group of 8 people that have become very good friends over the net playing online games the last couple of years, one of the other group members phoned me this morning, i stay over at his place when i normally visit Pretoria. Roelof was only one of 2 i haven't met

Got some pains in his chest yesterday, went to the doctor at the public hospital, he didn't had any medical and had to sit in the line, after 2 hours no-one had helped him yet and he went home...........................................he passed away later that night

I think you get to know people really well online. You always - mostly in the back of your mind - know they'll be there when you turn on your computer or play a game. They'll be there with you when you go forth and slaughter the evil creatures of the abyss to save the magical world of Snarf. It's a close bond that forms, especially when you consider how much time you spend getting to know each other.

I think, at this stage in my life, my "best friend" is someone I've only met once

Pathetic, just makes you hate this country even more. Question is, who's to blame.

Condolences, 33 is helluva young for a heart-attack. What was his lifestyle like?

Sad that he couldn't afford proper healthcare but could afford MMORPGs etc.
