In "The Star" yesterday, it mentioned he was lying to get money to pay back Rhema church a debt of R700 000. How does one run up that kind of (monetary) debt with a church? Are their sermons charged by the minute?

Well the church has said he does not owe them anything, but as you say, does not explain where that magical figure came from

Heard on 702 this morning that the church acted as surety on a loan he needed as he was under their employ (or something to that effect) and didn't actually pay him money.

Gareth Cliff mentioned on his show that he drove a Porsche whilst involved with the church. Maybe the money was used for that?

Niehaus has apparently finally quit. sure he was/is a lying scumbag, but somehow i feel this is kicking a man when he's down. he really should be out getting help instead of having to defend against daily skelekons tumbling out of his closet.

poor niehaus, typical heavily indebted south african living well beyond your means...

The Catholic Church used to do this type of thing. It was called "indulgences".

I guess it isn't entirely unreasonable for high-ranking ANC affiliates to worry about their immortal souls.

Bull.

If it were me or you, we would be in a cell right now defending our starfish.
But, because this "man" was an ANC bigshot, he is to be "rehabilitated" and "helped".

Nothing typical about this, he came about riches by lying and deceiving. Not like your average SAers who actually work to make a living and battle to make ends meet.

I would disagree. Most SAfricans are in debt because they live above their means. Just my opinion

ROLMAO...apparently his starfish had already been violated back in Pretoria Central back in the 80s:D

But this thing of someone working for a church, driving a Porsche is way beyond ridiculous and does not say much for Rhema.

...until recently he was employed by the ANC, an ordinary member who was employed as spokesperson

he started living in the house before he was employed by the ANC. by his own admission on 702, he was unemployed before he started his work at the ANC.

Hi Eric, sorry I am in a meeting. Belinda talked to me yesterday, and I said to her that as soon as I get back to my office I will get the proof of transfer faxed. My apologies, I told you on Friday that the transfer had been made. As part of my new ANC employment, I have arranged an advance with the ANC in order to pay you. I have provided all your banking details to the ANC Treasury, and asked for the transfer to be made on Friday, which they have committed to. Yesterday when I requested the proof of transfer, it transpired that the transfer had not yet been made. I know have an ABSOLUTE COMMITMENT that the transfer will be made today. please accept my very sincere apology. Having moved into the new position is extremely hectic, and I have not followed up matters as diligently as I should have. Kind regards, Carl
