Absa one in a million

Absa has become the first South African bank to register its one million cellphone banking clients, as the convenience of the mobile channel continues to drive rapid adoption among clients of the country's largest retail bank.

They're only big because of their history (merging of 4 banks), they are too expensive for me...

Their WAP banking is pretty amazing! I use it all the time and I must say that from all the WAP banking sites I have seen ABSA has the winner. The reason is you pay for it :p

Oh God, not yet another excuse to raise prices: "Oh look, we got sooo much work to do because we're sooo successful, so we need to raise prices to pay more jobs ... but don't you dare dip into our billions of annual profit..."

And they have done just that, albeit in a sly & foxy manner (as only ABSA can).
On their internet banking sessions - the had a facility where after you had paid a beneficiary, you could then save the "proof of payment" as a pdf document, which you could then print, fax or email. They have now changed it to save as some document with the following extension ib.jsp, which is useless as you do not have the program or open this kind of file (if there is, ABSA is not telling, read 2nd line, foxy & sly). I know because I contacted their help/information desk and no help/information was forthcoming. All they tell you is to use their own "send to cellphone" or "send to email" facility from their banking online page, which then cost a small fortune, NOT the SAME as a normal sms or email charge. Further more no warning that they were removing this facility were given to clients and all their help/information staff play dumb if you query as to the reason for this change!

hmmm
Depending on some things the .jsp you get/save is like a .html .php etc file - Just rename to .html and open it in firefox. Now print it to pdf using some PDF converter or print it to PDF to begin with.

I don't disagree with that. They are insanely expensive. But their service bests the crap out of other banks. My wife is with Standard and I cannot believe how inflexible that are. ABSA really has the best service out there - unfortunately you have to pay for that service.
