Is this only a JHB problem?

My connection was running fine this morning at around 5am and then suddenly the speeds dropped to GPRS speeds for the entire day. Couldn't get any work done! Its supposed to be HSDPA ??...not quite...Today i was trying to download import/export orders that are 4MB each and it was going at 5KB!

Starting to loose faith in Vodacom. This month (July) has probably been the worst month I have had with Vodacom as my ISP. All was working great for 3 months and then recently its been connection problem after connection problem after temporary network problem....

Any solutions in sight?
Is it Virgin Mobile causing the problems are vodacom shooting itself in the foot?
Should I cut my losses, lick my wounds and get iBURST?

Thank You

Not the only one experiencing poor quality Vodacom 3G / HSPDA coverage.

Still having extremely sucky HSPDA / 3G coverage in Hatfield (PTA) - luckily I am on prepaid - thinking of throwing the POS away.

Would much rather go the Telkom ADSL route in the future.

I gave up on vodacom 3G a loooong time ago....what with the poor speeds and the inability to switch between GPRS and 3G without having your connection disappear! Its nice when you pay alot of money for a 3G phone and you end up switching off the 3G because it never works! MTN however corrects all these problems and when my contract finishes I know where im going......

What makes you think Virgin Mobile is causing the problems? I use Virgin Mobile and I get excellent speeds with them. Though its only EDGE.

I'm sure if Virgin Mobile was to blame then Vodacom would not let them use their network. I mean, Cell-C uses Vodacoms network and Virgin uses Cell-C's. Maybe Vodacom was too quick and confident with their HSDPA service.

last nite I tried to max out my 3G connection by doing multithreaded downloads. I downloaded a couple of files simultaneously from different servers. I couldn't get more than about 150 kbps thruput.

Update

Well its now 2 and a half days, almost 3, that I have had no internet connection! How can Vodacom do this to loyal customers and send no apology, warning or f**& all notification informing us of what is happening???

What is going on?
Vodacom 3G please inform us why Vodacom is failing to provide me and others with a paid for service?

Vodacom are quick enough to take your money but when the **** hits the fan they impossible to find and to get hold of! I waited on the line for 45MINS, (i timed it), only to get through to a C.C representive who sounded like she didn't even know what 3G was

I've had major latency and speed issues too. But I have noticed it's not confined to just Vodacom HSDPA. I'm feeling pain on Telkom ADSL and Sentech Mywireless too.

Ultimately, we all rely on SAIX/Telkom bandwidth to some extent. Just how much of this is due to the Vodacom infrastructure? Or is the problem kicking in once they start peering to other networks?

My Vodacom week:

Sat:
Code:
Sun: [code=DNS_NO_DATA]
Mon: error 619
Wed: some other problem means no connection*.

You know its bad when telkom adsl is looking like a better option.
