Accessing Netflix from SA? Here's an update on VPN blocking reports

You really expect Netflix to come out and tell the world what changed so that it can be bypassed?

lol.

Netflix seem to be hardcoding checks to Public DNS like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
So if you block those on your router the Geo check shouldnt work

Of course. If netflix had their way they'd be able to provide content on a global scale with out all the BS from the studios.

It's just politics and business greed. The studios make so much cash, and they want it all, all, all. Just like most of the music industry... Very little actually makes it to the artists. Except for a disproportionate select, who are rolling in the dough, the rest struggle.

Rubbish. When you sign a contract you agree to the terms. If you don't like it then just self publish it online.

Would be funny if they truly blocked it and then lose at least 30% of their business :D Pretty sure VPN providers owe a significant portion of their earnings to Netflix as well.

They've done that for more than a year though, it's nothing new.

You need the distribution and marketing platforms to back the movie though otherwise it would go nowhere. Self-publishing may work well for books, on select cases, but I am skeptical about music and movies making it this way. It isn't as easy to control piracy with movies/music just from perception the type of medium holds. Unless each and every studio starts their own server farm which would be a nightmare for consumers.

making the world a better place one Netflix thread at a time.

He he, I don't know about Netflix but wherever I have worked, a spike in IP support issue is invariably the result of some techie somewhere making changes. One just has to be diplomatic as to how one inquires re the changes made. Often, after asking, things 'mysteriously' revert back to normal.

How would you cancel if you can't connect to your profile again? When my Unotelly needs a ip update, just before it doesn't allow me to do anything on Netflix.

Good point - cancel the credit card and ask bank for a new card..?

Well it only stopped my Roku 3 from working recently

Probably linked to the specific Apps and their related updates per platform then.

It's been an issue on the PS3 for over a year but Unotelly somehow got a way to fix it.

Clearly both of you doesn't understand the publishing game. The Publishers assume all the risk, often fronting money on projects. With very tight contracts, with the first 5000 copies the arist/production house earns zero, to recover money fronted for the projects, then the next 5000 copies sold the, artists/production house get 10%, and so on and so, till they reach a predetermined threshold of profit share and royalties.

I have an actor friend who starred in 7de laan for about a year or so, earned about R2500.00 per week regardless of reoccurring roles during that week, however the actor was in a support role, with here and there a lead role episode, a lead role would have pocketed slightly more.Actors get payed relative peanuts...

Self publish still require capital expenditure, which would result in a negative balance sheet for most, which is why just get a publishers and let them take the hit..
