I recently wanted to play some international lotteries. OF cos I researched sites like Lottoland and Lottostar and their reviews led me to believe they are just a scam, when people win they dont payout. Probably run by some corrupt politician. In any case I found two great sites, The Lotter and Lotto Agent. I tried playing but Standard Bank blocked all my cards. Is it because it is illegal? Has someone found a legit way to play?

Why do you want to play the lottery? Is it a fun activity for you? You are statistically likely to lose money.

Hollywood Bets? Remember there’s a difference between betting on the results and playing lotto.

That's fixed odds lotto betting, also known as lucky numbers betting, offered by pretty much every legal SA bookmaker / betting sites.

OP, lottostar aren't a scam and do payout, they are locally licensed and you have recourse if they don't, it's just fixed odds betting as mentioned above.

In SA you can't legally bet on unlicensed international sites like the lotter. There are work arounds but you'll need to be creative with your deposit methods, and you've got no guarantee of getting your money if you actually win. (The banks will confiscate your winnings on withdrawal).
