Before the real meat of the post, I thought I'd mention a story. I had recently arrived in the UK, and some brainbox had decided that it would be a good idea to merge the male and female changerooms at the gym so that now there was only one changeroom. Callers were MOST UPSET that some men, particularly older men, liked to walk around naked with their bits dangling. They asked for decency.
If you had asked everyone before you did it, they would have said that merging was a bad idea precisely because of this reason. Men like to walk around with their bits swinging when they can. In the privacy of your own changeroom is one of those times. They unilaterally decided to merge the changerooms and then got upset when some men behaved like they always had. Which basically means that the males were guests in a female changeroom, because they were being shamed for doing what they had always done.
But I digress. My complaint with transgender people is not that they aren't suffering, or deserve help, but actually that they are victims of a culture war being fought by the liberals and to some extent the feminists. Incidentally, some feminists have now become against the idea of transgenderism because of the problem of a trans woman without a uterus making decisions that affect women with uteri.
Something that nobody wants to really examine in detail is the correlation between transgenderism and mental health issues. Everyone assumes that being transgender causes mental health issues, but there is evidence that it is actually the other way around. There is the case of a woman who was sexually abused as a young girl, and thereafter had a sex change to become a man. Years later, now past middle age, she realised that she never really identified as a man, and that it was all a way to escape from the abuse and make sure that she was no longer a target for abuse.
There is another case I read of, a young woman who had a sex change to become a man as soon as she could, and now regrets it, only a few years later. She was I think 18 when she made the decision, and not given proper guidance. The hormones and especially the surgery cannot be reversed, so its a one way process, and sometimes what these troubled people need is just support and help. They need to be removed from abusive environments and maybe they need some counselling.
Yes maybe there are some genuinely transgender people. However, I'd wager the number is much smaller than everyone thinks. The liberals are keen to "believe" anyone that says that they are transgender, which means that the policy is operate first ask questions later. For every person that identifies as transgender, it is a victory for the liberals, and by that I mean it proves what they believe, namely that there is no difference between men and women. They want so desperately for that to be true that they will promote dangerous and irreversible treatment rather than really, genuinely help those in need.
