Speed up alternative to Telkom - ACDP

We are appalled by Telkom's response to the intended new rules to be drawn up by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) aimed at reducing the cost of high-speed internet services.

Such rules would not only improve services but also ensure that customers and small businesses can use these services without suffocating under hefty charges.

Telkom's arrogance - built on the fact that they are a monopoly - demonstrates that we urgently need another operator.

ICASA must show its independence and not back down from their intention to prevent Telkom from overcharging its clients.

We call for urgent attention to be paid to this matter in order to ensure that South Africans will have a viable alternative soon.
