Hi I would like to know how to enable WAP on a nokia 6822a? I've tried the *111# number but after I've selected my phone it says it will send my settings but then nothing happens. I was also wondering if it works on prepaid?
I don't think it is easier. The 155 guys are not on the ball when it comes to settings, especially the newer models. Also I read somewhere that there is a 3 month periodic update of phone settings at VC.*111# Works on both prepaid and contract. But it's easier just to phone 155 and to ask them to activate your data/gprs/wap and to ask them to send you the settings.
Nokia should have a website that will send you the settings for your phone once you have selected the local network. This way you can be assured of getting the optimum settings quickly.

Personally I think the the automatic services should be beefed up to reduce interaction with the call centre flunkies.

You can update your settings on the website but you still need to phone to activate the data on your sim. Mine still isn't working but they said I must wait 24hours. So I'll wait and then try again the sad thing is I'm only trying WAP because I've been waiting 2 months for telkom to connect my ADSL line but still no luck.

If you buy a phone in Europe, you get a complete list of settings written in the memory for each network, MMS & WAP etc and you just make a selection. So civilized. Now why don't Phone manufacturers like Nokia just put the correct settings on the phones to start with. I mean, they know exactly who gets the batch of phones before it get shipped.

It should be even easier in SA with only a few to choose from.
Virgin Mobile SA has made a step towards this as when you first insert the SIM and power up, it asks you if you want to download WAP and MMS settings. Good idea I thought.
