Adrenaline

Seriously people tune you about it?

Yes. I've been looking for work for 6 months. About 3 months ago I was asked why I left my previous employer, so I decided to be honest and say that I was off my medication for a year (which was a mistake) and that I needed to become healthy and I couldn't do it at work (it was impossible, I was on 4 different types of drugs and couldn't function). So the person smsed me the next day and said sorry, they can't give me a job. Which is kind of pathetic in my opinion. So now I will just say I've got a Chronic condition (which is the truth).

I went for my license two weeks ago and caved in at the start of the road test (nerves) and subsequently went on the calming tablets. It's working slowly and I know I will get my license hopefully next week or the week after.

I still live in Nelspruit :) hopefully for a while longer until I can find work. People are way too judgmental and afraid of Schizophrenics, which is sad, but I know I'll get there. The license right now is my biggest worry and I hope I'll nail it soon :p Thanks bro.

A very good point that my lecturer made:

He said people with schizophrenia can be cured and lead normal lives; theoretically - but this is in itself a problem because once people know them to be schizophrenic, they will always see them as schizophrenic, which leads to huge problems with relationships and trying to lead a normal life.

My close family members (mom, brothers and sisters) completely accept me and my illness. They were there for me since my first breakdown in 2005. It's the extended family and strangers and some friends that have issues with me and cause relationship problems. My girlfriend out of everyone has given me the most love and understanding, at times when no one was there for me. I can be a real a hole sometimes and God gave me the perfect lady who understands me better than I do myself :D

I also called my sisters cows, but today, all grown up and living our own lives, I have really come to respect them for the women they are. You'll see, your sister will be a great part of your life one day. They are just bitchy cows when they are young and dumb :D

Symptoms when I'm off the medication:

Hallucinations
Broken Speech
Weird Perceptions and Thoughts
Don't look after myself (don't cut my nails, shower when I have to, sleep when I have to, clean my house etc.)
Lack of Motivation
Anger and frustration, heartlessness (general psychosis).

Symptoms when I'm on the medication:

Depression, suicidal thoughts when things don't work out as I hope for.
Anger and frustration, nervousness, tension and jumpiness. (hence the reason I'm on a calming tablet).
I'm currently using Zyprexa 10mg and Atterex (Atterix, not sure) calming tablets prescribed my doctor.

I've got a conscience when I am on the medication. I'm open hearted, I can cry and laugh and just be myself. When I'm off the meds, I'm a complete monster and I hate it.

Hope it helps a bit killa :)

I hope for the best for you. As some people said, your diet can have a huge impact on how you live and react, so I'd suggest seeing where and if your diet changed drastically as well, it might just be something that needs adjusting and things that happen in your life as well.

Firstly, no disrespect intended, but don't call your friend a schizo, it hurts. He suffers from Schizophrenia and that's all. There are some really brilliant and great people I know that have this illness, including myself.

Thanks for being so open and very informative post.

If you dont mind me asking, in your opinion, could being a schizophrenic and/or sociopath related??? Ie: are the conditions similar enough to be mistaken one for the other? kwim?

No, it's different. As said before Schizophrenia is not just a mood disorder, it's a disorder of mood, perception, thought, self awareness, awareness of reality etc.

Schizophrenia is rarely misdiagnosed as it has many symptoms, some of which are more evident and visible than others.

Check this for more information:
People diagnosed with schizophrenia usually experience a combination of positive (i.e. hallucinations, delusions, racing thoughts), negative (i.e. apathy, lack of emotion, poor or nonexistant social functioning), and cognitive (disorganized thoughts, difficulty concentrating and/or following instructions, difficulty completing tasks, memory problems). Please refer to the information available on this page (see below) for common signs and symptoms, as well as consumer/family stories of how they identified schizophrenia in their own experiences. However, only a psychiatrist can make a diagnosis and start a treatment program. If you are experiencing symptoms are bothersome, debilitating, or harmful, please we recommend you try the on-line Screening test for identification of early schizophrenia symptoms (click here to go to the test) that we offer on this web site. The on-line test is also available in an "off-line version" for print-out (valuable for testing a family member who is not on-line, or who may not like the site of a schizophrenia-focused web site) - and the responses can then be entered into the on-line version of the test for scoring. If you test positive you may want to go to to an early psychosis diagnosis and treatment center or make an appointment with your doctor and/or a psychiatrist.

Thanks for the link, i've done some research on both the disorders(although I wouldnt really call being a sociopath a disorder, more a genetic malfunction of some sorts, untreatable with meds),I just wanted your own perspective if it could be a possibility.

PS: Just wanted to add that Im glad you are managing to get a better handle on managing this, It must be a very very hard life to live!! :)

It's actually not difficult, until I make contact with a real person. A Schizophrenic sufferer like myself have their own world and it mostly revolves around them. Like my initial shrink said back in 2005 "that's extremely egotistic", but it's not. I am this way and have this illness due to many unspeakable things that happened in my life, physical and mental and the day I started climbing into myself was when I started getting sick. I know exactly how and why it started, but it's not that easy to get out of it. That's why we are psychotic when off medication.

Thanks again, hope I haven't frightened you more :D

So many may know that I suffer from Schizophrenia.

I have a question regarding Adrenaline. Why does my body pump out Adrenaline at the strangest times? I can actually feel my heart pushing out the Adrenaline and then I become stressed and nervous.
This feeling of your heart pushing out the adrenaline is all in your head. Your heart doesn't produce adrenaline. Your adrenal glands do. They're on top of your kidneys.

Your heart rate would go up and you would sense that but you can't feel liquids moving through your heart. This feeling of your heart pumping out adrenaline is in your mind.

I'm on a new calming agent as of two weeks ago and I just swallowed one which made me feel relaxed and better.

I've googled, but only see general Adrenaline rush information.

Any ideas?
You're suffering from anxiety but that doesn't necessarily mean you're getting a rush of adrenaline. Have you actually been tested to see what your adrenaline blood concentration levels are to see whether or not you're actually getting an adrenaline rush?

Porchrat, just drop it. I don't have time to run around and answer your stupid posts every day. What is your fascination with me? Do you need a friend?

So it's not adrenaline, then it's Anxiety, Nerves, Tension, whatever, who cares. I go to a State Hospital each month for hours on end to get my medication. You expect me to have an Adrenaline rush test?

Whatever man.

Dude I'm not attacking you and what do you mean that I'm fascinated with you? I can't remember the last time we interacted on here.

If that post was worded in a way that made you think I was attacking you then I apologise. I have a family member that suffers from schizophrenia so while I can never completely identify with you I do in some small way understand what you have to deal with. It is also why I appreciate hearing about what you experience. Any additional information I can get about the experiences of others suffering from schizophrenia will help me understand what my family member goes through. While I can understand that perhaps my response seemed a little blunt your response was out of line. Your schizophrenia is no excuse for rudeness.

Endogenous plasma adrenaline concentration test if I recall correctly.

I never said you weren't experiencing adrenaline rushes. You could be. I'm not a doctor. I'm merely pointing out that there are other explanations for what you're experiencing so don't panic thinking you're experiencing adrenaline rushes when you may not be. If you are having continuous adrenaline rushes I doubt that is good for you in the long run and you should probably make sure that isn't what is happening. Have you told your doctors what you experience and asked them about it?

Seriously man this is your health. Please don't shut out advice just because you have some issue with the person giving it to you. Ask your doctor.

Morning Porchrat. I was extremely tired and frustrated yesterday, so please forgive my rudeness, I apologize.

Concerning the Adrenaline rush. It's Anxiety and makes me feel like I'm having an Adrenaline rush. I'm seeing my doctor again the end of the month and then I'll ask her again what the problem could be.

I'm sorry that your family member has the same illness, so please feel free to ask me any questions and I'll try my best to respond without being a douche.

Thanks again,
tera

Hey man no worries. I understand. I too have been frustrated the last few days.

I also know that I do tend to word things quite bluntly and it comes across as aggressive when I don't intend for it to be. I apologise for that and I will work on it.

Awesome. IMO you can never be too careful when it comes to your health.

I'm glad for this offer thank you.

Thanks porchrat :) I'll let you know what the Doc says.

My number 1 problem these days is that I forget to eat. It's 5:34pm now and I haven't even eaten anything. This causes me to become really agitated. My blood sugar isn't what it once was, these new meds moer me sideways.

haha, far from it.. :p ....its easy to google and get loads of info, but its nice to be able to ask a sufferer questions.

So you could say you were not born this way but some catastrophic event/s in your life caused it? Would you say this is the norm or just your own case? Sorry for all the questions, we have a family member who exhibits all the signs of being a sociopath going back to the very early years..its almost like she was just "born bad"....Its just been a hope that prehaps that wasnt the case and its been some underlying issue such as schizophrenia which is treatable and/or managable to some degree. Unfortunately with being a sociopath, the sufferer as per say, has no concience, doesnt believe/denies there is a problem and can see no harm/wrong doing in their actions...also managing to live and function in a 'normal' society. From your experiences, I can clearly see I cant really compare the 2 disorders. Its pretty scarey!

I definitely know I was born with it. I've been different since childhood, it's when I got older and things happened in life that I had the break which caused all of this. It was bound to happen. If I didn't snap in 2005 and lose myself, I would have snapped last year, or the year before or before that, so it happened when it was suppose to.

Concerning your family member. It sounds more like she is Bipolar than Schizophrenic.

Please read this and let me know if it speaks true of that person:
