ADSL 1Mbit to 4Mbit Still No Upgrade???

Hi all,

I am on Telkom ADSL 1mbit and was supposed to have been upgraded to 4mbit a LONG time ago, but speed tests only show:

Your line speed is approximately 1145.4 Kbps or 140.4 kBytes/sec

i emailed them, phoned them, logged a "fault" and STILL have not been upgraded. According to Telkom, i have "already" been upgraded but as all of you can see, the speed is clearly not showing.

I have a Marconi 4-Port-Ethernet Modem and my ISP is Telkom themself.

If a Telkom employee comes accross this or anyone else who knows why this is so, please would you explain to me what is goin on?

It is impossible that i live far away from the exchange because i live in a well developed area in Fourways...

It appears to be sync'ing at 4 mbit speed, but i am not experiencing the speed yet

im not sure exactly... how would i find out..

even if i was far, which i can almost guarantee i am NOT, i would notice SOME speed increase, it would just be a little lower than 4MB..

i.e. 2 MB or something..but i am noticing NO improvement whatsoever thats my problem..

My number is 467 XXXX so i cant be far

u just got a crappy line then... its syncing at almost 4mb.. which is all telkom care...

have you tried downloading a large file using a download manager? Because though somedays that speedtest shows me getting less than 1mbit whilst i go grab a nice file with a few connections at 3mbit+ speeds...

Also rather test using the iburst speedtest...

Just phoned telkom guys and they told me to unplug my router for 1 min while they did something on their side.. did not notice any speed difference on my side until i hung up the phone:

Your line speed is approximately 4210.5 Kbps or 516 kBytes/sec

0800 375 375, option 4, then 4 again.

see if they can put you through to "Gideon"..will help u
