Hi Guys

Hoping you guys could help , i just got off the phone with Telkom only to find that the above exchange has no more space/ dsl ports and i need to wait.

Those of you with experience could you comment on availability of adsl in the area or the time frame i need to wait .
Also can i not move to another exchange ?

Thanks

Hey

Sorry - can't help you but having the same issue here in Constantia. What is going on in Cape Town... it's ridiculous!

It boils down to bad network planning. The folk in the first world must be laughing at us... we can't even get a phone line with entry level "broadband" services... even if we're prepared to be ripped off.

<okay, rant over>

So true and one would think that you are in a well developed area that access would not be a problem ppfffffttt :wtf:

Seems Neotel`s Wimax offering does not sound to bad , am probably going to wait forever to get broadband over fixed line. One more thing why cant one be moved/migrated to an exchange less crowed ?

Hello there. I'm a Telkom ADSL representative and register orders for our customers nationwide. If you like I could have a look at what our records say about the infrastructure at your address and then provide you with better information. My name is Vernon Hendricks and my email address is hendrivv@telkom.co.za.

Hey SFW007,

Same with me, moved in recently, applied for a analog-only line
had an existing line installed at the place but they couldn't find it.
So they removed the existing one and installed a new analog line for me. Cool.

Now upon requesting to have adsl activated on my line, they informed me that theres no available ports on my exchange.
So now im stuck paying this analog line with who knows when telkom will decide to atleast inform me of some type of action they plan to take.

*You manage to get any help from VernonHendricks?

HEY JBK

Am most happy with the assistance that Vernon and especially TelkomZA assisted with.

There was basically no hope for me on a congested exh. some how TelkomZA found me a free port and am now an active ADSL users.

I will pm you Vernon`s email address as he assisted me just as well.

Big ups to Telkom and its staff on this forum

What a coincidence but after yesterday discovering this post telkom told me that I've got a port and I'm happily online now :)

Somehow thanks to you and this post!

Just re-read this thread. Ditto here. It pays to pester, I guess :)

Although, seriously, a shout out to TelkomZA for his assistance in getting a seemingly hopeless situation resolved! Thank you.
