Didn't think I would ever take the trouble to publically recommend a service provider after nearly 10years of bitching at the sprectrum of services endured that all fell comfortably under the section NON!

In the event this type of post is not permitted, apologies moderator! ..although like most, I too have been numbed by aFrIcA watZa time aaand the lack of ability to distinguish what the meaning of live is!
Therefore, somewhere among hearing all the complaints Its really essential that top, not good or average... but top service be recognised!

I know that just as I did, there are newbies out there seeking and comparing whats on offer before committing.

Look no further than www.cybersmart.co.za! Been with them for 11 or 12 months where apart from not been exposed to any companythat even comes close to their low rates, their attention to prompt reaction and remedy is 2nd to none.
Prior to the overall telkom reset to 384,I was paying R100 @192 for 3 gig. Now pay R125 for 3. Various options to suit any! check it out!.
More importantly though.....here's my case in point....

My motivation to take this time out was due to the pronto service received after been surprisingly capped around 11pm this evening.
Although daily bandwidth usage info is available,I seldom check it since the times that I had, it was always spot on!

Nonethless, due to the very handy top up & roll over service they provide, a gig was miscalculated at last month end thereby creating the early capping.

Checking back I noted the unlikely shortfall in the carry over and immediately sms'd one of the directors (All their contact details provided online)
Within 5 min received reply and within 10min my account was rectified with another complimentary gig to boot, for their mistake!

Naturally, I fear this type of service will too become unavailable in not too a distant future as such like companies delivering from the top understandably enter steroid growth cycles once recognised thereby literally disabling that type of attention.
Then again, thats their prize and deservingly so!

So if you still been suckered by telkom or other "brand-names" look no further!

I will mention that I have no affiliate agreement and besides 2 or 3 telephonic contacts, I have never met any director or employee of cybersmart.co.za

heh :p well I switched last yr dec and have not looked back. heck i mean the new cap saver thing is awesome(asside from the removal option cost). The nice thing is it's on saix so low latency is nice altho it is a shaped package. I wonder how many clients they got nowadays. Anyways they the only reason i still have adsl and will continue for atleast till end of yr when i must decide what to do with my life. :)

I'm lucky to b with Cybersmart too! Just one thing tho, their auto gen password can only be changed over the phone. There will be a facility available soon. Other than that, I'm very happy, R125 for 3GB!!

Are you happy with Cybersmart's HOURLY disconnections  or is this a telkom issue?

EDIT: Matter of fact I've just subscribed with cybersmart for the 3G package and it was a painless exercise?

I believe that this has been mentioned before. Apparently they disconnect you more often when you get close to the end of your cap so as to prevent you from going over too much.

It could also be that your line is losing sync, but that would be more random.

You forget to add to the fact that they only have ONE concurrent connection.

Its quite a problem when 3-4 people at home wish to use their own accounts but are restricted to one account: the cybersmart one

But apparently its possible to use PPPoE (dial up mode) if you everyone uses the same router ?
Is this true?
For example, my brother and I dial up to use cybersmart (so thats 2 dialups) then my aunties granny or whoever else has their own account that they dial up with. Will that work ?

depends on what hardware u got, but yeah most routers should be able to do the connection handling for you and then all pc's connected to the lan/& essentially the router has access to the internet.

The hourly disconnect thing is when u get close to the cap. If you accept responsibility of over-runs(like paying if you go over) then they set it back to what it was. I don't know how they charge for over-runs tho cause i've not gone over, got close a few times tho.
