Adsl dead.

Evening all.
My adsl line went dead last night. The light on the modem stays off. Plugged in another modem, same result.

Mailed my isp this morning and they say all is fine on their end.
What would be my next step to check if i need telkom involved or sort out myself?

If you plug a phone into your line, do you get a dial tone?

Same problem. No dial tone either. Contact Telkom to log a fault. They have been giving speedy service lately, YMMV.

Its possible that Telkom suspended your account. I have a few friends who are in this situation right now.

Account is up to date.

Will give telkom a call tomorrow if i have a couple of free minutes

Found out from Telkom that my dead line is due to cable theft. Day 3 on Internet-less Island

Mine was also down for about 3-4 days due to cable theft last week. The same about a month ago. It's happening very often lately and most of the time they steal the cables at 1 of 2 different places.

Don't they have some kind of security attached to the cable system.

They are stealing it so much I think they can just as well replace it with fibre. :mad:

Mine has been down for a week now, Telkom's excuse is that they need to order more cable...
