Some days it is fine, other days it disconnects for 10 min every 30 min. The router seems to freeze or restart whilst reconnecting or trying to reconnect adsl.
Afrihost mentioned DSLAM.

Does your modem every lose sync with the exchange? Can you maybe post your router/modem log?

This - and maybe a make/model of your router. Telkom at some point was giving the Netgear DGN2200M - one of the firmware versions was crap, caused constant restarts. But a physical restart - not just lose line sync.

My router is DGN1000 N150

I cannot post logs, because when it drops the connection, and tries to reconnect, it freezes, and restarts. I have no idea if this is normal

Are you right next to the exchange?

hmm okay..

Could the router be overheating? That would explain the freezes/restarts?

I have a similar problem with my DGN2200V4, my line has a fault, it drops sync completely and when it resyncs the router GUI doesnt load properly unless I unplug my DSL cable then when the lights are off (DSL+ internet) plug it back in then it works.

Its not a overheating issue

I think my router was overheating. I placed it differently, and pointed a fan at it, and no drops since :)

A common problem i've been having with with some of my Belkin routers lately has seemed to be flooding the connections, which caused it to restart. DayZ Commander's server queries and setting uTorrent to unlimited connections seemed to be culprits. Not saying its your issue though.

Were you keeping the router in the oven or something? :erm:

A friend of mine had his router overheating too - turns out the capacitors were busy giving in... If you know any electronically minded people, and the router is out of warranty, maybe ask them to pop it open and check if any of the caps are starting to swell.

Lol, no oven.
It's currently on a piece of granite on my desk... not sure how that's affecting it, but it gets hotter when on wood.

I did notice that the few days in the week when it was restarting, were the hottest days.
