ADSL link disconnecting after a few minutes?

Hi chaps, my previous modem got fried due to lightning damage on Monday. I went to the Telkom store and they replaced the modem (D-Link 2750 U thats branded with Telkom) with the same one.

I installed the new modem and entered my details. It connected and worked for a while. Then it drops the adsl link for 30 seconds and reconnects. It happens randomly, quite a lot actually. Sometimes it doesn't authenticate and I have to switch it on and off. I lost a hardcore character in D3 when it disconnected last night

Any idea what may be causing this? Thanks in advance.

Update: It didn't drop my connection after 9:30pm last night, will check again when I get home if it's ok.

Well, I called Telkom and they confirmed that my line is faulty so they're sending over a technician to check it out. Thanks for the input and brilliant suggestions you lazy bunch.

Hi There,
Let us know if Telkom solves it.
Very often when the lightning dances around more than what we suspect gets hit. Sometimes we cannot see it.
