I cannot tell you how much this is the same experience as last time

July/August
First they say no, lines will not be replaced, W-CDMA will be put in
after much nagging, someone higher up comes out and inspect, and overrules first guy
lines are installed days after

October/November
First they (same guy as in July/August) say no, lines will not be replaced, W-CDMA will be put in
after much nagging, someone higher up comes out and inspect, and overrules first guy
lines are installed days after

difference is now the lines still have to be installed, but I'm pretty sure that'll happen quick

first time it took me 4 weeks of nagging...this time around it only took me 2

:D I'm getting better at this :D:D

Ok, decided to give the guy a call....more to thank him than anything else. He confirmed that the cables will be replaced and that they will implement certain changes to try and halt cable theft in our area.

SlowHands, I don't know where you dug this guy's number up...but you deserve a medal! :D

I gotz a little black book with many many numbers :D

Glad your street will also be reconnected...I'm pretty sure all the streets in the area currently not connected will be active soon.

Yeah this guy really deserves something special and hope great things happen for him. When it seemed that all hope was lost this guy was willing to go the extra mile for us.

Just registered to thanks MR Slowhands. I have been trying on my own to get to the bottom of this without any luck. I am still however in communication with the Manager of the Department that replaces the cables in the area that has been assigned by the Value Chain Management and Escalations person to investigate my fault personally. I'm in Sauvignon street so I'm holding thumbs that I'm included in this fix. Mine went down on the 31st of October. I will personally organize you some KWV for all the effort

lol I make a couple of phone calls and everybody wants to bring me alcohol :D

I think for now we shouldn't bother Telkom too much...they have now committed to replace the cables...lets give them the benefit and wait till early next week...

I know I know...another weekend without internet...hey, it could've been MUCH worse...

:D

Please don't forget about Cabernet St ! THANK YOU. Imagine it was Eskom lines that were stolen and Eskom told us that they are not going to replace the lines!

I phoned him earlier. He said the whole area will be connected again. Don't worry :)

that's my understanding too

A semi-accurate guestimate would be sometime early next week...with this weather I doubt anything will happen this week

I got the same SMS today "telkom has decided not to replace the cable" ...very annoying :wtf:

Yeah same here. And then every morning I'm still getting the "Telkom is looking into your fault". Amobia guy is coming for the scan tomorrow morning maybe I should just go with them on principle. :D

agree with all, wifi sux.

Needless to say, I am also victum to this nonesense. The good news is that Fibre to Home is being installed in various areas throughout the country, by various ISP's partners. Not just telkom.
Bad news, ... poor small "villages" like ours, is last or not even on the list yet.

I truely hope that SlowHand's contact is trustworthy and delivers... even if not, thanks for the help from all you guys!
As i have said many times to many providers over the phone now... If my router and PC did not require Power... then eskom can roll over and die! but God forbid my internet being down! I go crazy!
I need my internet for way to many things (including work). I am sure most of you are in the same boat.

Heres to holding thumbs for good news!
