Hey cueball, great to hear you're connected again...was a long wait tho :/

sidenote...I was told that those new metal things sticking out of the ground will be secured with concrete...I haven't seen this in my street (Burgundy) as well as Witteboom...anybody else seen concrete being used to secure the new metal pole thingies?

@Slowhands, they pored a mixture of concrete and sand into the Telkom "man hole" on my lawn, after they erected the metal pole next to it.
The metal poles could only be "unscrewed" with a special key and contains all the connections required for the surrounding houses.

Hey IcemanMike,

Thanx for sharing...did they do this today...or some time ago? Reason for asking is I asked the guys when they were busy installing the new things, and they "then" said they will secure it with concrete. Opposite my house I've checked everyday since they installed the new stuff till this very day and I still don't see any concrete...maybe it will still happen.

I asked them when they came around a week later to remove the top half of the poles to get the numbers sprayed on. The guy fitting it back on said they filled the man hole with cement a day or two after they installed the poles. I live 4 house from you. I've noticed that they replaced only three of the man hole covers with the new lockable type (replaced round with square). As far as I know the one opposite your house is still the round one. Perhaps they thought it's a "safe" one to leave as it's not as close to the edge of Protea Village and Crammix..

I'm on the cul-de-sac end of Shiraz Street & all is well. Up & running with very decent SNR/Attenuation numbers.

There's a moerse new box on the corner here, but last time I asked one of the techies who was working on it he said hopefully somewhere in 2015. Vague.
