Wouldn't rule out cable theft just yet, it impacts line sections on quite a small scale, especially if the perpetrators are interrupted. Last time there was theft it affected a handful of houses around me, but several neighbours were fine.

Ended up being an issue on my line. According to the telkom engineer, my line got changed from PTM (VDSL) to ATM (ADSL) all on its own. Obviously my modem was set up for PTM so it couldn't sync with the incoming ATM signal.

Luckily it was quickly sorted, but how does this magically happen on its own? Can't wait to get rid of telkom..
