True. It's not like I want to sell my house, but what are the chances of useless Telkom actually replacing these cables seeing that it was stolen only 2 months ago?
noticing a pattern in an area should make them realize that they need better security measures than say, Bishops, in order to maintain uninterrupted service.
The guy at the cable department yesterday told me that the guys stealing in our area don't even force anything open...they have the "telkom tools" to gain access...now if that is true...how can they say because of repeated incidents, they won't replace the cables anymore...if I leave my doors unlocked during the day when I'm away at work...and a thief realize this he will gain access steal what he can...and then "remember" my house and come try again some other day. If the doors are unlocked again...what a pleasure for the thief. ...but this is why I, whose house it is, put in measures like burglar bars, safety gates, alarm with armed response, stuff like this to try and keep the burglars away...and in case it does happen, I pay for insurance.
I don't honestly understand why we are having this argument with telkom...it's like they just don't care anymore.
Just think about this for a second...lets look into the future for a moment...
Telkom don't replace our cables...
thieves move to another area to steal...
Telkom stop replacing their cables...
thieves move to another area to steal...
Telkom stop replacing their cables...
etc etc
...end of the day, there's no more fixed lines...there's also no more copper theft yay for Telkom...but surely not everyone can have proper broadband on wireless??
Telkom finds a way to rollout "proper" wireless broadband to everyone who "used" to have ADSL...
thieves start stealing wireless equipment...
Telkom stops replacing wireless equipment...
see where this is going?
