ADSL router and Telkom Checkadsl speeds not the same?

Hope the ADSL geniuses can offer some advice.

After the latest Telkom ADSL speed upgrades my 2Mbps line was supposedly upgraded to 4Mbps yesterday.

I checked the Telkom Checkadsl website and it stated than my line speed is 4Mbps. When checking my router stats, it shows my up/down speeds as 2048/512?

Is this an issue Telkom has to sort out? If so, what needs to be done to get my router to connect at 4096/512?

The site is reading it from some sort of database, its not a true reflection of your speed. Give it till Friday then phone them

That makes sense. Thanks, will do.

Just out of interest, if there is a fault, its something that the technician needs to sort out at my exchange, yes?

I seem to find the checker site uses your account profile so if you using a 4 meg account now after the upgrade it will say it, like it says I got 10 meg but only got 4 since it is max in my area.

You can phone 10210 and ask them to change you to 4 meg and can also try a port reset.

The website says max in my area is 4Mbps and I'm apparently on 4Mbps right now, but even after changing routers I still only get 2048Kbps down.

I'll phone 10210 as get them to fix it or explain the holdup to me.

I find that adslcheck utility unreliable.

My sync is on 10mb, but it says the max on my exchange is 4mb.

Yup, I'm finding the website unreliable as well now.

My question is, if everything is working as it should, I should be seeing the down speed on my router as 4096Kbps. Currently its still on 2048Kbps, which was what it was before the speed upgrade.

So there's a disconnect somewhere on Telkom's network.

They said it would take a week, take a chill pill

Calm down!

Telkom are busy with upgrades of our 2Mbps lines this week and there was a whole article last week of the process. Its not a database error either.

Sweet. Chilling over here. So it's not as easy as just flipping a switch or updating a database hey? :D

Same thing here, router still syncing at 2Mbps while the website states my current speed is 4Mbps. What is strange is that the website also states that the highest speed in my are is 1Mpbs while I have been running 2Mpbs for the whole of November so far and according to our local Techie the area I am in can support up to about 6Mbps!

Anyway...just wait the week out! If nothing has changed by the weekend, contact telkom as suggested earlier!!! :)

Can't wait for the 4Mbps!!!!!!!!

My work is on the same exchange as me with 6 megs (can't get higher at work) yet it says 4 megs max when using both of our numbers and yet I am stuck on 4 megs and Telkom won't up my home line :p.

Don't worry about it for now. Mine also is saying that I'm on 10Mbps while I'm only syncing at 4Mbps. Phoned Telkom and they said for me to wait until Friday. He said that the fact that it was changed on the website means that you and I are already scheduled for an update soon...well sooner than people getting next year xD
