might as well get the router, setup a linux box with the router on one side and the network on the other ( 2 network cards) and use the linux box as a firewall and proxy!

Heh? This is for your work - Host Online? Don't you have a Diginet line through which you provide client services, and which you can then use for your 8 PC's? Seems silly to put in ADSL if you have this - please provide more info, else I suggest you visit www.datapro.co.za (and no, I have nothing to do with them...)

a diginet line would be cheaper (around 4 grand if i'm not mistaken?) for 64k, no download limit nothing, set your priority to receive emails and browsing secondary. And if you want, get a satelite dish for the downstream?

just a thought, use it dont use it

I will be needing a static ip address in the feature and I know ADSL changes every 24 hours.
Will be using it to connect to a other PC in Israel. Any tips or advise?

An 9GB Mweb account is seriously cost ineffective - there are much better options out there.

You should've gone with a Diginet line - you're gonna have some hassles if you need a static IP, depending on your app - if you need this, you're gonna have to use a service like www.dyndns.org ...
