Good evening everyone, i just thought I'd take a moment to create this thread just so we can see if and where the speed upgrades are live yet. I can report on two areas, Parow and Eerste River. I have ADSL from Telkom in both these areas but it seems the lines have degraded quite dramatically over the past few weeks. My home line in Eerste River went from 5mb to just over 3mb, the one at work used to be 2mb but we are barely getting anything over 500kbs. It'll be great if you guys can contribute with any news of what things are like on your side, thanks!

Something like this won't happen overnight.. They are doing it in phases which may take a month to reach some...

Maybe I can just clarify this after spending quite some time in discussions with Telkom technical, sales and social media teams. Line speed upgrades will only be leveraged to those customers currently on legacy uncapped packages from Telkom (so not if you only rent the ADSL line from them and use another ISP and not if you're already signed up on Home Unlimited). How the upgrades work, for e.g. is for a user currently on a 2Mbps uncapped package from Telkom, which costs in the range of R570 odd a month. That user will be upgraded to Home Unlimited 4 Mbps at R599 thereby getting a line speed increase at a marginal cost increase. Similarly, a user on 4Mbps uncapped is currently paying R780 odd a month will be upgraded to 8Mbps for R789 pm. There is no blanket speed increase to be offered. This is my understand (although I hope I'm wrong).

OP, your subject contradicts your post.
