ADSL / VDSL speed confusion, who to contact, Telkom or ISP?

Hi All,

I am a bit confused who to contact here, so please help me out.

I have a VDSL line with Telkom, according to the router it is syncing at 22527 kbps / 5118 kbps and my ISP is MWeb

When I do a speedtest, my download speed is fine, but only get between 1,4 - 1,7 upload speed. Does not matter to which site I do the speedtest to, even to Mweb's own speedtest site.

I contacted MWeb, they tell me the problem is on Telkom side, now this is where the confusion comes in as it sync's 5Mb upload on Telkom side, surely the problem is on MWeb side.

Please guide me here as I really do not want to deal with Telkom if I don't have to, lots of previous bad experiences.

Do you have uncapped with MWEB?

Maybe try a test account from another ISP? That would confirm whether the problem is on MWEB or Telkom's side

Something is odd. Telkom has always artificially limited the upload bandwidth to 3Mbps for a 40Mbps VDSL line. But now my upstream sync speed is 10Mbps for a 40Mbps VDSL line...

That is exactly what happened to me, my upload was limited to 2Mb before, suddenly it shows 5Mb so seems Telkom is being gracious.
Not complaining, just wish I can use it???? and somewhere between MWeb and Telkom lies the answer, I just wish I knew where

Get a free 1GB account from Afrihost and try that.

Did as SA suggested above.

With Afrihost I get 4Mb upload, with MWeb i get 1,9Mb upload. Spoke to Mweb, they will change the profiles during the course of next couple days.
