On a ADSL system, the client is able to do a lot w.r.t. port forwarding and firewall settings.
All these functionality seems to be lost once you go to either Fibre or a Wireless link.
Now 99% of users have no need to do this but Gamer's and tinkerers would like to do this, but they need the service provider to do these changes.
Is this a flaw in the design, is it designed like this for cost or is there cost effective units that can place this back into the users control?
An ADSL router with all these options is very cheap, so why can't Fibre or Wireless Link routers have the same functions to do port forwarding or advanced firewall rules?
Or am i missing something?
