Advice on Mtn Contract

Hi
A friend of mine is upgrading and she wants a new tablet on her Top up contract. Thus her current sim stays in her current phone and she just uses the tablet on wifi.
The sim must have a topup contract that includes data and calling minutes.
Price range is around R300 pm

But Mtn wouldn't let her choose her own device(tablet).

Any advice on how to manage this?
