Hi All,

Had fiber pulled today, and would like to finally get the home properly setup for wifi.

Need advice on a few things, or even recommendations on someone that can do a turnkey who knows what they are doing, and won't rip me off. (Johannesburg South).

Budget = not the major issue, would like quality, and willing to pay fair pricing - depending on what is fair - and what is needed.

Setup: 100mbps openserve fiber coming into house at bottom floor.
Smallish double story house, lots of concrete. Small garden

Needs: TV downstairs, full wifi access all over downstairs and upstairs
Baby camera/ cameras in baby rooms.
Possible outside cameras in future

Multiple devices - 2 Ipads, 3 Iphones, 2 macbooks, smart tv. Occasional guests with 2-4 additional wifi connections.
I would also possibly like to expand to a media server in the not so distant future, or something similar.
No smart connectivity internet-of-things type in the house yet, but I'm quite keen on going the automation route in the near future.

I was thinking about the ubiquity products as they look decent.

I have no issues with physical wires being pulled from upstairs/downstairs (there are some wall conduits in places).

SO....

Advice is needed on
1. What type of setup would cover my needs
2. What sort of budget I'm looking at (DYI and installed by someone - I'd prefer to have it installed by someone who works neat, gives good quality service, and I'm willing to pay for a fair rate for it)

3. Pearls/Pitfalls

Thanks in advance

The Ubiquity Unifi stuff is good. I have the Unifi AP AC LR (https://shop.dbg.co.za/ub-uap-ac-lr.html) in my house, and it gives coverage throughout.

Note that this is only an AP, it doesn't do DHCP, etc. For that, you would still need a router. You can use your existing router if you like, just disable the WiFi.

If you want to go all out, the Unifi Security Gateway (https://shop.dbg.co.za/ub-usg.html) may be the way to go. And finally, you ideally want a server internally to manage configuration of that lot, which could be a raspberry Pi, or you could use the Unifi Cloud key if you want to spend money ;-) Surprisingly, Uniterm (dbg) doesn't seem to stock the Cloud Key.

ubiquiti is very good.

I have my own setup at home with everything you mentioned and it is excellent. i have also installed a mates network this last weekend and they are really happy with the improvement over the standard fibre router setup. you can PM me if you want to pop round to my home and check the network out. I could also help you out with the install...
There are some real interesting affordable IOT tech available as well. I have lights controlled by wifi, i have amazon alexa, home cctv, home alram, tv's, printers, tablets, cell phones and all the usual connected to three AP's and it is stable as heck.
