hi,

i need to ask any aerosat subscribers in pe, are they any good???? R950.00 for a 512k line, unlimited bandwidth seems to good to be true. compared to telcum adsl it is a bargain. at 512k bits/s thats what about 64k Bytes a sec = 3.8M bytes a min?? am i wrong here, dunno, had a few drinks tonight???

looking at adsl and comparing it to what aerosat offers, aerosat seems a steal...

i got mweb satellite, although i have to use telcum dialup, with infinite call!!!! they both suck... i download just over 30gigs a month from sat and mweb charges me R269.00/month plus my telcum charges, it works out to around R900.00 a month for both.

aerosat users, please let me know, WHAT ARE THEY LIKE???

is there support ok? is aerosat like is adsl? i'm no gamer, i love to download zip over http? in general are they ok???

your feedback will be much appreciated

thanks
nick

Ask a mod to move this to the correct place. Wifi and WISP is where you need to be.

That 512k line is contended, meaning there are a certain number of users sharing the line. I believe the contention rate is 20:1 on that line, but don't quote me. Just ask them what their contention rate is. This makes all the difference when surfing a lot.

I had them a few years ago and had endless problems with them going down, connection that was sometimes slower than dialup during business hours etc. Personally find ADSL much better but things may have changed since then.

Please review the ICASA ruling on Aerosat. www.icasa.org.za There is a judgement against them. I have not read it but the jist is that they are being shut down.

read your second sentence again.......

the judgement, as explained ad nauseam to captainwifi, relates to whether certain computer equipment can constitute radio apparatus for the purposes of the Telecommunications Act. Nothing more nothing less.

if you had even begun to look at the document you would have seen the date as May 2005...

@nickthed - I take it you're in PE as that is the only area they service.

Aerosat sucks!

They do not care about there customers.
It worked for bout 3 weeks, then just endless problems.
signal loss, signal loss...etc
You phone them for help, and they speak to you like an idiot.
Telling me there is no problem
What happened to the customer is always right buddy?
Although it did sound like they had a bunch of appy students working there.
Lost so much money on there outrageous install fee and set up, never again.

Finally the day has come when someone asks if they should get
aerosat....well..HELL NO!!!

I think I'm gonna Puke!

I was with Aerosat for 6 weeks.

I signed up for the 64K service from Aerosat. I had to pay R2050 Upfront for this service. I paid, they did the install and I sort of had internet. From day 1 I got a 30% packet loss constantly. I could not play games online, or send emails even it constantly times out. I called them the next day to tell them things arnt right, they said fine they will put me on another Tower. After they moved me to another Tower things started to get worse, I got around 35% packet loss. I called support, believe I spoke to a Peter there or something (clueless person of note, wonder if he knows what a computer is) Anyway, he said not its working fine. I told him to ping my connection and have a look, he did, NO everything fine he says, all this while im busy sending a ping to the tower, and getting 30-35% packet loss. I said thats crap, I am getting huge loss. He said I'm talking crap and I want to get out of the service. I told him Ill take a couple of screenshots and email it to him. Fine I emailed him proof. He said I was Lying. So I was up in arms. He said he will do some stuff and I must test it in a hour again. Next day Same thing, I'm totally pissed off now, I just forked out R2050 and Im getting nothing for that amount.

After another 3 - 4 weeks of contansly struggeling and telling them to fix it, I told them I want a refund and I am canelling. The accountant at Aerosat said "We DONT do refunds". I was like "Thats illegal, your'e selling me a broken product and not refunding me. It's the same as selling a new car off the showroom floor and promising great performance, and you sell it to me with no engine." Accountant: "Sorry we dont do refunds". I cancelled Aerosat that same day.

To date I got R0 refund. They are selling crap products with no SLA. They are breaking trading laws and should be sued. I am disgusted that there is such a company out there in SA. I will never get Aerosat and I will to my fullest extent persuade anyone not to get them.

Well I was/am interested in their service...
But they are forcing me to think twice...

I contacted them 3 weeks ago, they said they would need to do a signal test at my place, and requested my details etc...

After replying with requested info, I have not heard from them again :(
Three weeks is a long time to not respond...

Oh well, I'm not gonna beg them ... it would seem they don't need/want any more customers - they must be doing quite well

If you guys are still interested in connectivity in the PE area PM me and I will see if I can help out.

And yes Aerosat does not have a good name in PE, if I was you guys I would stay far away. Telkom offers better customer service :D

Another WISP in P.E? Can't say I've heard of them...

Is there some reason you can't just post their details right here for us to see? (and perhaps follow up on).. Website?

Sorry about the delay in replying, been out the office for a week. If you are interested in WISP in the PE area get hold of Digital Dynamix, they offer (if I am not mistaken) 1Gb for R99. Chat to Craig, their number is 0413609589 or www.digital.co.za. Please let us know if they are able you help you out.
