Cameras are good for after-incident review to see how the incident took place and to make security improvements.

Their real-time value is highly variable. AI person detection is amazing on paper but my experience is that in different situations (intruder crawling, only half of him visible peeking over a wall/plant etc) many models miss too much to be relied on. If someone can get theirs to be perfect then good for them.
