JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Tougher competition at home, strife in Africa, a new boss and soaring HIV/AIDS rates could weigh on profits at South African fixed-line phone company Telkom, the company said.

The company said it could be fined up to 10 percent of annual turnover if South Africa's Competition Tribunal finds it guilty of refusing to allow VANS to access their network. That case is expected to be finalised in the next year.
