I finally had my fiber installed, just a few days ago. Ignoring the fact that I had to go to Afrihost's offices and refuse to leave until they fixed issues with activating the account, the new problem is that the speed is now mostly useless.

At first it seemed throttled to 4mbps because it would always get exactly that speed. So again phoned, moaned, threatened to camp out in their office for a second time. Then last night I got home, and it was hitting 80mbps and I thought everything was sorted.

Now this morning, I couldn't get more than 0.5mbps.

This is to their own Speedtest server (I'm assuming it must sit in their same networking), the Upload wouldn't work at all, essentially 0mbps.

I then switched to my 8mbps Mweb ADSL, and checked against Afrihost's Speedtest server, and it was a steady 7mbps.

Is it just that Afrihost is useless? I've never had problems with Mweb's ADSL, although I am on their "premium" offering (but the only difference is higher limits if I understand correctly).

Is it possible to have two ISPs, I am on Vuma and that doesn't seem possible since Vuma seem to "link" my line to an ISP?

Does anybody know what Mweb's fibre is like, is it more stable? Do they also have a "premium" fibre option with higher limits?

Vumatel is open so you could literally switch over to Web Africa and not have trouble with it.

Sure, but I can't sign up with someone else in the meantime as well, and then swap between the two to compare, can I? I'm nervous about moving to somebody else and they're just the same, because there seem to be migration costs each time

Ok... I have been with Mweb forever, going back to ISDN dial up, and now on ADSL. There doesn't seem to be too much feedback for them, anybody have experience? Or is the only sensible choice Cool Ideas?

Nor I am with CellC. I still vote Cool Ideas. My wallet was too thin to pick cool ideas, but a friend on 100mbps and not once an issue. Support is great.
The rest is:
Crystal Web, RSAWeb and CellC.

The others we tested was Afrihost, WebAfrica and Vox.
WebAfrica is non existence support, speed are always bouncy.
Afrihost, Really!
Vox not bad just we had little issue with upload speed last year, apparently they claim is our router/PC which with the other ISP its normal.

I've cancelled my service on Afrihost's client zone, and it says the cancellation will be processed on 1 August. How can I get it processed now?

On the Vuma Shop portal, under my account information, there is also an option to Cancel, which says "May take up to 48 hours".

Should I go click that too? Afrihost will still consider me active till 1 August, but since Vuma will have cancelled it from their side, I'll be able to order the service from the new provider?

I believe that's how it works, but haven't tried it personally,as I'm with Cool Ideas and have no intention of moving. Whoever you go with, I'd avoid Web Africa, was with them on ADSL and as soon as anything goes wrong, there support disappears. The good thing about Cool Ideas is @PBCool reads this forum, so if you are unlucky enough to have a problem, you can contact him via this forum and he will get your issue resolved.

Crystal Web also have a good reputation, but recently, they've been getting a few bad reports.
