Afrihost, Axxess, and Webafrica hit by massive DDoS attacks

Afrihost, Axxess, and Webafrica informed subscribers on Monday morning that they may experience intermittent connectivity.

Webafrica stated in its network status notice, published just after 08:00, that another distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack affecting its network has been discovered and is being investigated.

My network got DDos'd last Monday - ISP is RSAWeb, who mitigated things very quickly.
It seems that these attacks have been going on for longer than reported.

I kinda find it weird thou, that they do not have any DDOS protection, or if they do it seems like its not working correctly.. To prevent these from happening, I know service providers like VeriSign and Neustar and other providers offer these service and also there is software. I mean they should be able to white label the ip ranges already to protect them from this kind of requests... just my 2 cents

Go read up on how these attacks are happening. Specifically DNS amplification attacks.
