Good day everyone,

I am looking for some assistance with Bridging my Afrihost-issued 5G router - network is MTN. Router model is TP-Link NX510v.

Long story but the DSL lines in my area were destroyed and OpenServe won't fix them. There is no Fibre access to my location, so I had to get 5G. I got MTN month-to-month directly from MTN at 60 Mbps, but I wanted the full beans unlimited speed which the sales person at the shop said they could NOT give me :(

My old DSL modem-router was connected in bridge mode to give the DSL connection to my MikroTik HAP AX2, which does the routing and gives the internet to my devices. When I got the MTN-issued 5G router, a ZTE MC888, I configured it to give the 5G connection via bridge and the MikroTik could still do its routing thing for all the house devices.

I want the max speed, so I got the Afrihost Unlimited 5G MTN option - they give a free router with it. But the issue is now I am not sure how to connect the TP-Link in Bridge mode to my MikroTik as I have done with the others. I have reached out to Afrihost WhatsApp support, but they were unable to assist. The TP-Link website is buggy, so I can't get a PDF manual to show if bridge is even possible like it is currently set up on the ZTE.

So the question - does anyone know if such a bridge is possible on the NX510v? And if so, has anyone done it and can walk me through the steps?

Thank you very much :D

Connect the 5G router via LAN to port 1 on the Mikrotik, and then set a DHCP client linked to Port 1.

This will auto create a default route, meaning all devices connected via the Mikrotik will use the 5G router as the internet gateway. Depending on your Mikrotik setup, you might need to add a masquerade rule for that ether1

Hi Grant.

Can I message you to assist with this. How would I do this I also have this router connected to an Asia router that handles all my internal traffic. I want to be able to connect to the asus router when outside my network but am currently not able to due to not baking able to set the tp link to bridge mode.
