I have signed up with Afrihost and have been a member since Monday the 9th of December.*I heard that Afrihost was one of the best wireless ISP's and decided to go with them. After checking their network coverage map, I saw that the coverage of my area was great! My mind was made and I chose Afrihost.

Till today I have not once been able to use my internet in my complex! The coverage map showed me speeds of up 41mbps and nothing under 1mbps at the worst of times! So how do you explain an internet connection speed of under 100 kbps???? And absolutely NO 3G connection!*Not one solution has been given to me yet after first querying this on the 9th of December. Where has the service gone?

I have paid my full R990 for my MiFi device as well as an additional R120 for my data, and they were happy to debit my account quickly for those, but absolutely NO help in fixing my connection speeds!

A company who claims to give "Pure Internet Joy"??? I actually had more joy at Telkom, which says a lot!!!!

Have you tried moving the mifi device around to see where you get best signal ,there will always be wireless dead spots that's the nature of wireless.

The coverage on the map is what you should get outside your house. It's always worse inside. Try moving it to find sweet spots and try forcing 3g only so that your modem doesn't constantly disconnect due to bad signal.

Reception is a bit of a hit and miss. If you are not lucky enough to get good reception from within your complex, then rather look at alternatives? Within my house, too many walls cause LOTS of interference, so I can just imagine being surrounded by neighbour's walls and Wifi's can be so much worse. Having said that, the Afrihost mobile data has been AWESOME for myself. Loving it!

If you are not happy, make use of their double your money back promotion-thing. Check the home page, underneath "Why is Afrihost the right choice for you?". So even though you have no satisfaction, you can at least walk away a winner.

Indeed guys, have tried both moving around and standing outside... Seems like my area is in a dead spot though... Which is opposite to what their map says...

And other ideas or tips maybe?

I had a similar problem, I was getting good hsdpa signal on my mtn phone byut the mifi device was on edge all the time, in the same place,

so I called mtn, got through to someone smart enough to know their own name and got them to put me through to the data departement. data reset the mifi device's sim, and checked if it was LTE capable for me, the sim was, so I let them add the upgrade to the sim service.

then suddenly I was hitting speeds of 15mb/s in an LTE deadspot,

yes every now and again I have issues where I cant get anything other than edge on the mifi device or on my phone, Usually I go outside, do a hard reset, and take out the battery, leave it out for a few secs and then try again, and boom full 3g again....
