Afrihost Pure VOIP

Hi, just wanted to find out how the caller ID works on your service? The Yealink phone asks you to add a plain text caller ID for outgoing calls, but it doesn't display when making calls.

Thanks!

Hi,

Caller ID is set to a fixed number on the sip server. This caller ID is the number of your Voip service which means setting a custom caller ID on a voip device will not bypass the caller ID set on the server.

Thanks @AfriNatic ! Is it possible to give my caller ID a name, since I'm using the VoIP number for work and if people are anything like me, most calls from numbers beginning with 087 are ignored... xD

Unfortunately that won't be possible. Our Voip provider forces the number from their side to make sure that the networks that are dialed bills the correct amount.

We don't offer geographic numbers currently but might offer them later. You would need to port a number to us if you want another number that is not 087.

Great, thank you! It's not the end of the world, just wondered if it was a possibility!

I've got an interesting issue.

I've loaded a newly provisioned number onto FreePBX, I can call inbound, but not outbound.\

The error "This number does not exist" occurs.

I added my VOX number in to test, and it works absolutely fine.... Does anyone have the SIP settings for something like Asterisk/FreePBX?

When using the same account on linphone or a sip app on your phone the account works without any issues?

It must be a way it's dialing out. You can check the logs to see what number it dials out? Maybe it's adding an extra 0 or country code +27

I am not very experienced with PJSIP, but if you did this on a Chan_SIP trunk on FreePBX you would most likely need a register string in place in order to make it work.

Hi can anyone help me with the Zoiper app. How do I link my voip package to the app, it asks for information I do not have. I only received username/password and sip server in my confirmation mail, where would I find the rest of the information…TIA

Hi,

The account name you can make anything you want to call it like Afrihost Voip
Domain: sip.afrihost.com
Username: Your voip number
Password: Your voip password
Caller ID: Your Voip number
Auth Username: Your Voip number
Outbound proxy: leave that blank.

That should work.

@AfriNatic will we be able to port 087 numbers to Afrihost once the porting becomes available in March? I have a few numbers on the Freshphone network that I plan on porting to either Afrihost or Axxess once porting becomes available.

Once the porting of 087 numbers becomes available we will offer that to clients.

Are you guys able to port a geographic number from another VOIP provider that had previously been ported away from Telkom or can you only port geographic numbers away from Telkom directly?

Yes. I have assisted a few clients porting from other voip providers to us when they have a geographical number.

Any plans to offer the ability to sign up for a geographical number without first taking the Telkom step?

Hi,

We use Telviva for our voip provider. I'm not aware if we will be offering geographical numbers in the future but possible.
