Best ISP in South Africa revealed

Analytico’s Q3 2024 broadband and ISP report shows that Afrihost is the best Internet service provider (ISP) in South Africa, followed by Mweb and Axxess.

For this report, Analytico collected 1 million data points from 64 ISPs through MyBroadband’s mobile speed test apps and website.

74% isn't exactly impressive.

If all were below 50% and Afrihost were on 49% and everyone else drop with 1% after that. Would they be called the best of the worse ISP's.

afrihost and mweb??
LOL. not buying that

No Cool Ideas? Mweb 2nd? or maybe its because us Cool Idea users don't need to check our speeds because we got no problems?

Hmmm

Seems legit. ISP and excluded Fibre Only providers.

Cool Ideas is still no1 for fibre ISP.

Afrihost will never be because once you factor in ADSL, Fixed LTE and Mobile all under the same AS it drags the average speeds down because Fibre IS the most stable connection method so if you compare an ISP that sells everything vs a fibre ISP only then it's not that fair speeds wise.

Why is Rain in here aren't they only LTE/4G/5G? And MTN is that not only celluar where Supersonic is their fibre leg that also resells LTE?

There is some inconsistencies, at first after reading your comment i was like OH! It is ISP's that offer everything but then i looked at the list again and realised what i mentioned above.

Also don't CISP offer LTE now as well?

PS i never read the whole article i just looked at the tables mainly :)

It's well known CISP and Afrihost are on top and you comment about ADSL is valid a 5meg line will drag your average down.

Im am sure these ISP's pay for thse results, just looking at the amount of threads where people complain about Afrihost should tell you they are not no.1
You see their complaints yes but can't compare it to other ISP's who don't have reps present here (other than the very few on here), so what you seeing and think is a lot could in fact be very little compared to other ISP's where you have no visibility of their complaints.

Also take into account a lot of the fibre networks in SA are just built kak and they quite a big dog with lots of customers so the poor fibre networks and tha reflect badly on them

yep, can't ever say Afrihost was directly responsible for any of my ADSL, and now Fibre problems, was always Telkom or the municipality breaking connections, and even then, they have been always accommodating esp. in this forum with my niche queries and the downtime.

It's been years, but I also hope their WhatsApp line improved in the meantime, that's my only negative.

Oh, and at least SuperSonic is at the bottom, shouldn't be on in the first place but I would never wish that pain on anyone.
