After market HU in Astra G

After applying a lot of force I managed to get the stock VDO front loader out of my Astra and I'll be installing a cheap-ish MP3 frontloader (sub R1k) tonight.

I already read up loads of stuff about how difficult it can be in this car and I even have detailed steps on how to remove the center console (not that I will be doing that).

What I'd like to know is 1) what new HU should I be looking at and 2) anyone with experience of doing this that knows one or two things I should know ?

OK, let me offer advice to people attempting this upgrade..... its a lot harder than you think !!

In the end the center console and cubbyhole had to come out. We managed to reuse the ISO adaptor that was already in the car (after cutting off the remote display section) but reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_10487 I now know why the radio resets everything I switch off the car.

*Note, on modern Volkswagen Group cars and some older vehicles (such as the Peugeot 106 or Vauxhall Astra) the +12V Ignition and Battery positions are reversed.

I will no doubt revisit it again later the week to swap those pins...
