Anyone had any experience with these? I just read in CAR mag that bi-xenons can increase night time visibility by up to 230%.

Having just come back from a business trip where I did quite a lot of night time driving through the old Transkei, it seems like these lights might be a useful safety feature in my car.

They definitely are worth it BCO, the only thing you have to look out for, apparently is the fact that they might need a relay, as someone I was chatting to the other day fitted them and burnt out his wiring. With the travelling you do, I would say that they are essential, even if they make the Panda go 10km/h slower!! ;)

Sorry, I forgot to add that apart from the loss of speed, you would also lose about 10 kw, so your sexy little beastie would now only take 1 minute 45 secs to reach 100!! :D

Are you serious? Do xenons draw that kind of power?

I've done a quick bit of reading this weekend and apparently the HID bulbs on their own don't make much of a difference, because without fancy headlamp reflectors and lenses the xenon light mostly just scatters.

Yes, somewhere in the back of my mind was the story that it wasn't that simple! I would definitely contact that crowd, however.

true, i read on the fordstownerssa website that you need to buy the whole hid kit, seems like prices start 1,999 for the kit...

...otherwise if you just want to buy brighter globes, look at some like nightbreakers from osram

I believe these afermarket kits are not legal, unless its fitted with some sort of auto leveling device.
However there are lots of guys using them without any problems from popo.

Why do you think they are only standard on cars that produce over 200 kw???? ;)

@Fazda:
That's a LOT of BST!!!
They draw 70% less battery current compared to conventional and hence they don't load the alternator/engine as much.

@ BCO:

Get yourselve the kit, you won't be sorry, it's like a night & day!!
I got one ( not the same, but aftermarket) for 3 years now. VERY HAPPY:D
Just MAKE SURE you alligne the Head Lights after fitment, or you will be blinding the oncoming traffic which is VERY dangerous!

good luck.
