Im having a bit of a problem.

I downloaded the game last night.
I run the game, the age of empires logo comes up , the whole screen turns black and it crashes to desktop. The music is playing but if i click on the aoe on the taskbar it just keeps crashing to desktop. I then close the game...

I've tried previous gpu drivers but its the same.
Also tried to lower my resolution in windows. Run as administor and I've run in compatibility mode in xp and 98 with no luck.

Windows 7 64 and running an amd 5850?

Thanks guys, gonna wait to.go home. 1st i'll install .netfx4 and see if it fixes it. If not im going to disable the firewall completely to see if the firewall is the problem.

In case anybody hasnt heard, the game is now completely free-to-play.
So you can play, earn empire points and use that to buy new civs/booster packs etc etc.

Of course you can still buy empire points using microsoft points which you buy using real money, but if you play enough, you dont have to spend a cent to get all the premium content.

Why not just play it on Steam?
