Hi there guys,

I am new to wireless security. I am trying to [-]hack[/-] test my home wireless network...

I have a Samsung NC-10 netbook which comes with the Atheros 5007-eg wireless network adapter. I have installed the commview drivers for it and downloaded the aircrack-ng-1.1 package.

Where I have been able to get up to so far is with airserv-ng:
C:\aircrack-ng-1.1-win\bin>airserv-ng -d "commview.dll|debug"
Opening card commview.dll|debug
Name: [CommView] Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter
get_guid: name: {E997DBA8-2CC7-409D-AD61-5EAD51DA0E2D} desc: Atheros AR5007EG Wi
reless Network Adapter - Packet Scheduler Miniport
Does this look like your card? [y/n]

TION

C:\aircrack-ng-1.1-win\bin>

the airserv-ng.exe.stackdump file contains:

Would someone be able to guide me further with this? Where do I go from here (airodump, aircrack, airreplay???) ?

Thanks...

i would suggest booting up backtrack for this... ( http://www.backtrack-linux.org/ ). you can boot it from a cd/usb drive.

but if you prefer windblowz... you have an access violation. so either airserv doesnt have permission to access that part of the stack (i.e. not running as administrator - so run command prompt by right clicking and choosing run as Administrator.), or something else is using it. turn off // exit any programs using the card. perhaps even "disabling" it in netman. i wouldnt really know... but those are the things i would check.

+1

Hacking with windows is like trying to swim in a straight jacket. Besides with backtrack you have an entire community behind should you experience an issue.

Ok thanks for the replies... back to square one I guess :(

Really don't want to try linux, would prefer to keep the cracking on windows... would anyone be willing to connect to my pc via vnc or teamviewer or the likes to see where I am at??

I would really reconsider. I mean you need like ZERO linux knoweledge to run aicrack-ng on backtrack, its so well documented its crazy. Just download backtrack throw it on a VM if you don't want to boot from usb or something, open a terminal and your a for away, it looks way harder on windows tbh

Most of the decent tools are for Linux. If you really want to test your security then look at BT.

Its a gui interface so Windoze peeps will be able to use it :)
