Apple beats Samsung in South African Bluetooth tracker battle

MyBroadband recently tested the tracking capabilities of four popular Bluetooth smart trackers in South Africa and found Apple's AirTag performed best.

Unlike GPS tracking devices, Bluetooth smart trackers rely on the large networks of smartphones from various manufacturers to relay their location.

Airtags - surprisingly useful little things.

You don't say?
Well, there are many things where they are just not first & there really is no reason. Maybe they wait until the technology is cheap enough.

Didn’t they take years to have Always On and then limited it? And then launched a version similar to Samsung soon after?

Didnt even need a test for this, its common knowledge that Apple beats everyone else in everything.

Not to those in the real world ;)

I’m sure you’ve read the Apple Music is limited and not as great quality as the other services - but do you know Apple Maps imagery is also years behind?

I feel sorry for those using Apple services just expecting them to be better :(

Apple products just work, so even in the real world they are just better products. Not sure what you are on about.

Interesting
There's a few generic trackers that use Apple's Findmy technology so there's a more budget option using Apple

Android also recently enabled their general use for their Tracking tech so expect the Android Findmydevice network to improve in the next few years

I do prefer the UWB and Samsung tag though

I would also prefer Airtags over Samsung for privacy reasons. Apple designed some hardcore protocols to ensure only the owner of an Airtag can track it.

Shame, have tried these on high value parcels, didn't work couldn't recover most of the devices,...waste of time.

What an experience.
Hey, wait, where's his left hand...? Holding Alexa's head...?
🤣
Nobody did more for tiny d1ck gestures in 2024. 🤏
