Airtime via Eight Time - R1800 gone and no data

Due to the transaction amount, I couldn't do a regular airtime topup to fund a 60+60GB recharge. Instead I used the "Topping up Airtime via Eight Time" using FNB to FNB. I was careful to use my 8ta number as the reference without spaces!

The advertised clearance time is 10 minutes. After 2 hours I'm still Internet-less and want to warn others against using this recharge service. :(

Case no: 6727920

Please keep us posted. I would hate to have this happen.

No resolution yet, unfortunately. The call centre suggested I go in to a TM store, give them the case number and tell them to call 187. Seems they have direct access to the technical department and the call centre does not?

Otherwise I must recall the payment with the bank and top-up at the TM store.

At 10:03 the amount cleared onto my SIM card. :) Thanks Telkom Mobile for resolving. I still won't use this method again in a hurry. It took 14 hours and 3 phone calls to 081 183, not the advertised 10 minutes. I suppose the fault could also lie with FNB.

Anyway, thread may be closed.

I had to wait about 4 days before the airtime got onto my account. definitely not 10 min. Will not be using that payment channel again

I never use third parties even banks for that matter happen to a friend R500 airtime, she never received it at all, took them 3 - 5 working days to rectify the problem. If I need data immediately I drive to my nearest petrol station/convenient store or alternatively if I am at the mall I purchase my airtime at PEP R100 airtime charged at R95 :) saving of R90 if you going to purchase 18 X R100 vouchers :)

*Covers petrol cost* :p

Eight Time is a third party provider. There could be any number of issue between the bank, 8time and Telkom. Glad you managed to get the problem resolved.

I know I have had plenty of issues in the past buying prepaid electricity via third parties. Sometimes their systems are just not working properly.

The main point is still breaking of the SLA which kinda undoes the good work 8ta/Telkom Mobile do:

Once you have purchased your prepaid airtime you will receive your 8ta top up direct to your SIM card within 10 minutes
