Alarming number of South Africans okay with US spying

Well, someone's got to keep an eye on us :p

Yep, spying is okay. There is in anyway no way it can or will be stopped. Ain't doing anything wrong online in any event.

I dont care about them spying, if it will stop terrorism then great.
They want to have access to my stuff? Just do it or ask, I have no objection. But then I dont support terrorists or watch child porn

Lol. Conservatards complain about big government and losing freedom and then don't mind being spied upon because 'terrorists'.

Why is this "alarming" ? Or should everyone in SA not be okay with this?

Much of a muchness as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed!

As opposed to Terrorist loving scum?
When did I complain about losing freedom?
I am happy if they do it and I lose a little freedom if it means Islamic militants dont dictate to me

Would you be fine if someone spied on you in the evenings through your home windows, not doing any thing just looking at you?

If its the authorities and there was a Muslim terrorist in the area? Come in I will make the coffee

PM me your address, I prefer to stay outside. Could you bring me the coffee?

They can spy. I have nothing to hide, most people don't.

It's not that people have something to hide, it's that government can't be trusted. Guess some won't mind 1984 type telescreens in their houses.

That is not really the point. Where does it end? One day they decide to use your home surveillance to spy on you?
Who is to say one day they change there minds on how they use this information? You search the wrong keywords and end up on the wrong websites, you happen to buy some home cleaning products, and all of sudden you are suspected of something and preemptively get taken in?

Could happen, but what can I do about it? I can write to the US President and ask him to stop, but I doubt that will help. I agree it is an invasion of privacy, but worrying about it won't help none. The only thing I can hope is that information used will keep us all safe(r). Probably too much to hope for, i suppose.

If they give a reason - and ask politely - I'll show them everything: I'll even offer coffee.

However, the US & UK governments are trashing privates live using terrorism as a [weak] excuse.

And therein lies the problem ...
