Alcatel modem hicups

Hi there,

Ok i've got a Alcatel Speed touch home ethernet modem.

The problem is:
My line sync goes beserk every now and then .. espescially around the hours 19:00 till about 22:00 ... and especially weekends

The line sync light starts flickering then takes about 10 - 20 secs to get back.. Last night this happened about every 5 - 15 minutes.
When playing Warcraft online this is a problem, cuz the game gets dropped about every time this happens. Extremely annoying!

I know a guy around the corner with a different ADSL modem and he has no hicups like this .. i just don't know if it's the modem or the lines or wth.. I don't have the cash for a new modem atm.. And since i paid R2000+ for this thing .. bah! .. telkom
Any advice?..

Methinks you have a 'dirty line' - have you got the line filters installed? You should also get Telkrap's techies to test the line attenuation...

I have the exact same problem with my netgear router. It can be fine for days, then weekends yes espeically bad, and like today from the morning till 5 it went on and off every 10 seconds. Hope that this is something they can work out. And btw what are line filters? You mean the filters for the normal phones etc? Thanks for the info ill phone them tomorrow.

Telkrap refers to them as 'Marconi micro filters' and sells them for R48 each. Their original POTS router package had two of them in the box - dunno if this is still the case...
