I think he is getting at the fact that, alcohol excepted, their diets would be quite similar (no pork etc) so it would make a decent comparison on the efffects of alcohol consumption on health. Of course there are plenty of other factors that you would need to account for too..

My gran's brother had cancer, went through chemo and it went away. It came back now, but he said he'll rather let nature take its course and avoid the chemo.
