Piece of crap app! I wrote this long reply and I by mistake presssed discard and lost everything.

Oh well, I was saying that you should try a different salesman and say if they are not willing to pay the full amount for the car then they must throw leather and another extra into the deal or else you are walking. Alfa need to push sales.

Also, the more extras you spec the better the discount. They want.to make the sale. Trust me. Just be hard and relentless.

Oh, and I dealt with the sales director. The owners son because another dealership screwed me around and Fiat referred me to Chatz. I also dealt with a chap named John. Greek guy. I'm currently driving Johns Mito while they fit the new gearbox.

I am going to buy myself the QV with every optional extra in July :D CANNOT WAIT!!!! Oh, thinking about getting it in 8C red (white is... to common?)

[/url]

Have you seen how much that 8C red paint option costs...? Its not the std 'metallic paint' option...

Ja, the 8c is stupid expensive. I would say the best colours are white, black and that grey. Black might be an issue for some but it looks hot.

I'd say the other red ('alfa red') is cool too... and it won't break the bank... i'd take that over grey/black...

That alfa red is just maroon. Lol. I think its an awful colour. Can't understand why they just couldn't have a normal red instead of 8c.

I had them give me 6k above trade for my mini (great resale value) and 7k discount. They also threw in smash and grab.

Would probably be a bit awkward if I walked in there and asked to speak to another salesman lol. This guy wasn't particularly unhelpful, but he obviously wasn't trying to give me the best deal thats for sure. If I go for it I will make sure I am agressive with the prices. Clearly they are able to give quite decent discounts and prices for trade ins.

I prefer my gearboxes actually have the ability to actually shift gears.

But thanks ;)

Its fine...then off to the ze Germans with you...We like our things a little broken ;) gives them character...lol

And my gears were shifting just fine...they just did it with some noise. Like Grimspoon said...just go drive one before you bash it and the gearbox issue is a minority issue

Like i said above, the car is beautiful, I am really impressed by the design, but Alfa don't have a crappy reputation because one car broke that one time to someone from the media.

Almost EVERY one has broken, without fail, since , well, forever.

The reason people point at your car in traffic is because they are amazed that its actually running.

EDIT: for clarity, I am not attempting to insult you, I have strong reservations that this brand has turned around, kudo's to you for giving them a second chance.

Hahaha I also loled at that, pretty funny I must say :p

Still a dam nice car. I think there newer cars are way more reliable. Besides the gear box issue that is.

R19500. Even I caved when I saw how much that is....Chose white instead :)

Maybe I need to get hold of another salesman.

If you don't come right (and speak to the guy Random spoke too), try Alfa West Rand to see what they would offer you on a trade in?

I was walking through Clearwater Mall yesterday and saw they had various cars on show. Couldn't help but resist sitting in the Giulietta for a while and looking at the pretty (in a manly sort of way :p) interior. People must have thought I'm weird touching all the buttons with a big smile on my face...

Why is it taking so long though?

The dude told me he had some coming in this week if I was interested in one of them.

The dealer pre-orders different varients with different specs at regular intervals..kind of like a thumbsuck as to what people will want. If your order matches, hooray you get it sooner (and also pay less of a 'securing deposit').

As I want certain specs (my specs are xenon's, visibility pack, cannelloni rolls, aluminium sidekick plates, My-Port for TomTom, PDC, sunroof, 18" rims, folding side mirrors and bose sound system), it has to be specially built in Italy and shipped over here (unlike the others which have been pre-ordered by the dealer). Apparently there is also a backlog of 1750 engines so there's that added delay as well. They also took 10% non-refundable deposit before ordering it because of the risk that they might not be able to sell my spec car if I decide I don't want it.
